Overview
BonsAI is an AI platform that streamlines ESG compliance by integrating data and providing analysis based on UK standards. It simplifies reporting, offers flexible data gathering, and helps users act on sustainability data in agriculture and logistics.
The client tasked us with designing a user-friendly system that empowers businesses—particularly in agriculture—to meet ESG reporting requirements aligned with the UK’s sustainability goals.
They wanted a flexible platform capable of handling different types of data inputs across eight ESG taxonomies, allowing users to adapt their submissions annually depending on changes in regulations or internal processes. The system also needed to demystify complex ESG standards for non-technical users while remaining robust enough for in-depth analysis.
The client emphasized the importance of guiding users through data submission and compliance analysis with clear navigation, intuitive controls, and a simplified visual layout. Design assets needed to support a modular build, with quick iterations in line with agile sprints and consistent UX throughout multiple user roles.
Our process began with a detailed exploration of the UK ESG compliance landscape to map out the user journey and determine the best ways to simplify complex regulatory concepts.
We created a sitemap and user flows that emphasized ease of navigation across the platform’s modular ESG categories. Wireframes focused on intuitive data input experiences—such as checklists, file uploads, and questionnaires—while ensuring traceability and transparency for compliance tasks.
In terms of visual design, we crafted a clean, scalable interface that aligns with both government and industry standards, while using subtle design cues to assist in user guidance. We prioritized responsiveness and clarity, given the range of user expertise. Each sprint focused on one ESG taxonomy and its data collection method, allowing us to design and validate screens with real user feedback every two weeks. This agile-aligned design process ensured that every feature delivered had both form and function, leading to a prototype ready for iterative development and integration.
